Yesterday brought the news that actress and activist Cynthia Nixon was running for governor of New York. The former Sex and the City star announced the news through a stirring video on Twitter where she spoke of the changes she hoped to bring to the city.

Sex and the City fans couldn't be more delighted with the news although many are struggling to separate the strong-willed character of Miranda with, well, the strong-willed activist Nixon.

The Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award-winner is set to challenge Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the state's Democratic primary in September.
