Think more 'Charmed' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' than teleporting closets and family secrets that are riddles and with a lot less humour.
After the success of their dark and twisty take on the Archie comics with 'Riverdale', Warner Bros. are taking a stab at rebooting another one of its intellectual properties with a new version of 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' currently in the works.
According to Variety:
The potential series would be based on the Archie Comics series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and witchcraft. The series is described as being tonally in the vein of horror classics like “Rosemary’s Baby” and “The Exorcist,” and will see Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit.
The chief creative officer of Archie Comics, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is set to serve as writer and executive producer on the currently titled 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina', with the 'Riverdale' creative team of director Lee Toland Krieger and Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater all coming on board, so as 'Angel' was to 'Buffy', 'Sabrina' will be to 'Riverdale'.
We have a terrible feeling about this. They'll probably have a CGI Salem and he'll be terrible.
