"We are thinking of her family and all who loved her."
Actor Rynagh O'Grady has passed away at the age of 67. The Abbey Theatre in Dublin shared the news this morning.
Her best-known role came in the form of Mary in 'Father Ted'. She and her husband John were constantly at loggerheads with one another throughout the series, producing one of the best-known double-acts in an Irish sitcom.
As well as this iconic role, O'Grady also made appearances in 'The Commitments', 'Breakfast on Pluto', and 'Far and Away' with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
She also appeared on stage in various productions over the years, having trained in the Abbey School of Acting. She made her first appearance in 1969.

Graham McLaren, Director of the Abbey Theatre, had this to say about the actor's passing: "I'd sneak into the back row of the Abbey to watch her hush a hysterical audience with a look, then lead them through a speech full of heart, humanity & justice.
"Irish theatre got a lot darker today."
