We have to admit we thought it was coming but nobody actually expected Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy to reveal the news that Glee will be no more after it's 6th Season ends so soon.
Rumours about the show's future had been flying long before the death of Cory Monteith earlier this year, but continued to intensify after the Glee star's passing but Murphy put them all to rest on Wednesday evening at a Paley Centre event honoring FX Networks.
As per TV Line, he confirmed that Season 6 would be the show's last and admitted that he'd had to re-work the entire ending after Monteith's passing. "The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story," he told the media.
"I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was - he was in it. I knew what the last line was - she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now."
Murphy has been thinking long and hard about that ending, and added that it wouldn't be long until he sets the wheels in motion. "I have a good idea," he said. "I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love."
There's only one thing we can say at a time like this Glee fans: Whatever you do, don't stop believing, eh?
