Well we can never accuse Roy Keane of not giving this Ireland job his all, as the former footballer has dropped out his role as a football pundit for ITV's World Cup coverage. The news comes just 24 hours after Keane withdrew from negotiations with Celtic over the vacant managerial position. That Martin O'Neill must run a tight ship wha'?

While it is of course bad news for ITV, it does give us good faith that this new Irish managerial team are taking things very seriously indeed, and given that it's getting closer to Euro 2016 Qualifications, it's positive news if there were ever any for our national team.

Still though, he will very much be missed by all football fans watching the tournament in Brazil as his no bullsh*t approach to commentating has proven popular. A spokesperson for ITV told the Guardian; "Roy has been a tremendous part of our pundit team in recent years, but we fully understand his decision to concentrate wholly on his coaching. We wish him every success for the future.”

The door is being left open for Keano at ITV and it's understood he left on good terms, which is undoubtedly better than the last time he dropped out of a team before the World Cup... what? Somebody had to say it.
