Well this was unexpected news, for us anyways, considering that Game of Thrones doesn't often go with with well-known actors. GoT fansite Watchers on the Wall reported a change to Grant's online CV which has added the hit show to his list of TV appearances, while his IMDB profile has also been updated but it does say 'rumoured' in brackets beside it.
Grant has most recently appeared in TV shows Girls and Doctor Who along with Downton Abbey and is perhaps best known for this role in Withnail and I.
HBO has not yet confirmed the casting so we have no idea who he could play, although for some reason we could see him alongside Jonathan Pryce's High Sparrow easily enough, couldn't you?
Fans however have speculated that he could be Randyll Tarly (Samwell Tarly's father) or perhaps Izembaro, the leader of a traveling troupe of actors who briefly mentors Arya Stark.
We will just have to wait and see for now!
