Red Rock is going from strength to strength these days, between getting deals with Amazon and its successful debut on the BBC this week, and now one of its stars is headed for big things after landing a role in hit show Vikings.

25-year-old Darren Cahill, known for his role as Davey Webb on the soap (we all know what he did), is set to play ‘Aethelred’, the son of Aethelwulf, played by Waterford man Moe Dunford.

Filming for the brand new fifth series of Vikings is currently underway in County Wicklow. Commenting on his new role, Darren said: "It’s been going really well. It’s great getting to work with such amazing cast and crew on such a prestigious show."

Vikings attracts millions of viewers in Canada, the US and Australia so no doubt it will open up a lot of doors for the young actor.
