After six years off the air, the worldwide hit TV show Prison Break is coming back. It had been rumoured for a while but the news has now been confirmed by Fox who has said the series will return for a 10-episode-run and it will pick up with the characters where we last left them.
The show ran for four seasons until 2009, and for those that didn't watch it, it revolved around two really, really good looking brothers with a load of tattoos. One goes to prison for a crime he didn't commit and the other devises an elaborate plan to help his brother escape and clear his name - which, eh, also involves going to prison. We're not sure how much they thought it through.
Anyways, it ended after the fourth season with the apparent death of Michael (Wentworth Miller) but that's no obstacle in TV land and both brothers will be returning to this follow-up series.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Fox Chairman and CEO Dana Walden said; "I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don’t think [exec producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience."
He added; "This is the pure vision of the creator of the show. It’s going to take a little bit of a detour from where we left off but it should feel very satisfying and event-ized. Fans will be excited about seeing these characters back together again."
Of course the obvious elephant in the room of Michael's so-called death was addressed to which he said; "What [Paul] pitched to us was a very logical and believable - in the world of Prison Break - explanation for why our characters are alive and still moving around the world."
Delighted he will be back and all, but didn't he have a brain tumour? How are they going to get past that one?
Maybe he'll be a ghost! Good thing we're not writing it...
