Pierce Brosnan is returning to TV with a new AMC series called The Son.
Brosnan hasn't done any TV work since his 1980s series Remington Steele went off the air in 1987. He of course went on to have a hugely successful film career that saw him play James Bond on four occasions.
So what's this show about that it's gotten him excited enough to return to the place where he made his name? The Son is described as a multi-generational epic that follows America's birth as a superpower thorugh the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family.
Brosnan is replacing the departing Sam Neill as the family patriarch, Eli. The report from Deadline gave a description of Eli: "As a child, he was kidnapped and raised among the Comanche Native American tribe and applies the brutal Comanche worldview to his business dealings. He was born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, earning the nickname 'First Son of Texas' and is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy."
