Well, Simon didn't appear to be in attendance, so David was just doubling up. Or having a not-so-subtle dig. You see, we can expect year's orchestrated handbags to be between Simon and David, especially in light of comments made earlier in the year.
Seemingly Simon made a questionable quip regarding Walliams' failed marriage to Lara Stone back in January during auditions, and things have been a little frosty since (well, that's what they want us to believe anyway). According to The Huffington Post: "The music mogul asked one contestant why she wasn’t married, which prompted David to flip the question on him. But Simon hit back, saying: 'Well, why aren’t you married?'"
In a recent interview, fellow judge Amanda Holden said she reckoned things went too far: "Yeeeah... David made it personal [first]... he dares it and Simon comes straight back in at him, and the joke ends there because he can always top David... He’s out-funnied David a lot this series. David is very pissed off, actually."
Walliams only recently spoke about Simon's high heels and his eyebrow-raising brags while on James Corden's US Talk Show, admitting they have something of a Love/Hate relationship.
