Last week we discovered that Community star Joel McHale was set for a role in the upcoming reboot of The X Files series, where he is to play a conservative news anchor and an "unlikely” ally of Mulder’s.

We were finding it difficult to imagine McHale in a more serious role and initially thought this was just a bit of a random choice, (as much as we love McHale, ) however the image below helps no end with envisioning how this could work.

It sees McHale, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny all hanging out on the set of The X Files, which is currently being filmed in Vancouver.

See? Not so weird.

We're still going to be expecting Donald Glover or Gillian Jacobs to rock up beside him at any point though...

And thanks to @TheXFiles, who you'll probably want to follow to keep up to date on all your FBI action, we got our first official look at the two head honchos on set, and not a Cerys Matthews in sight.
