We think it's safe to say that 'Rebellion' was a show that Ireland can be proud of, but it turns out that our own national tongue may not be as popular.
The RTÉ show was picked up as a global exclusive by the streaming service to every country except Ireland, Finland and the US, which means lots of expats have been tuning into the show for the first time.
One such viewer was Louise Acheson, who sat down to watch 'Rebellion' on Netflix in the UK and in doing so discovered that Netflix may have overlooked something kind of substantial in their broadcasting of the show.
It's called Irish, Netflix, IRISH! #OtherLanguage #Rebellion pic.twitter.com/4uJvKuvyYv

Yup, that's Netflix not knowing/guessing that an Irish show starring Irish people set during the 1916 Rising may casually feature people speaking in the language native to that country and didn't even bother asking what it was they were saying. Not cool Netflix.
