Although it wasn't quite the hit that 'Penny Dreadful' was, the follow-up series was still popular enough among the show's fans and had scored some decent reviews during its run.
However, it's been confirmed by Variety that 'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels' has come to an end after just one season. The series, set in 1938 Los Angeles, followed a brutal murder and intertwined the history of Los Angeles' freeways, Mexican-American folklore, and even Nazi infiltration in local government as well.
The series starred 'Game of Thrones' alum Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, Daniel Zovatto, frequent Bond supporting actor Rory Kinnear, as well as recurring guest stars including Amy Madigan and Brent Spiner (yes, Data from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation').
