The actor, who was best known as John Steed from cult '60s TV show The Avengers, has died at the impressive age of 93.
According to a statement released via his website, he passed while at his home in California, surrounded by family. The statement reads: "He was at home wherever in the world he found himself... He had a knack for making friends, and keeping them. Wherever he went, he left behind a trove of memories and good wishes."

While the TV show broadcast from the mid 60s for eight seasons, MacNee only featured in two of them, and yet his Steed one of the show's more enduring characters (Emma Peel's leather catsuit being the other).

As well as appearing in Broadway shows, MacNee also enjoyed stints in This Is Spinal Tap, A View to a Kill, and The Howling. He is survived by two children, his grandson, and three ex-wives.
