Well, we always knew he'd leave eventually, but we have to say we aren't quite prepared to wave goodby to Summer Bay's hunka hunka burrrnin love just yet. Als, we have to, as Luke Mitchell, aka Romeo Smith, has gone and landed himself a role on the other side of the Pacific.
Yup, the Home And Away star has joined the cast of The CW's Tomorrow People, a new pilot that's based on the 1970s UK TV series of the same name. Details are still a little scant, but we do know that Mitchell's signed on to play a pretty central character, with Deadline originally tipping him for the lead role. Sadly not though, they've since revealed that Revenge's Robbie Amell will be taking up that mantle.
So, what's the story with The Tomorrow People you ask? Well, it follows "several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution and work together to defeat the forces of evil." If we didn't know better we'd say this was TV's answer to Bryan Singer's X-Men. Hmm, Luke Mitchell in spandex? We wouldn't exactly complain...
Anyway, rumour has it Luke's character will be called John Young, and will specialise in teleportation. He'll also be joined on set by Mad Men's Peyton List: Her character Cara, is described as "a young woman with special powers who is both trustworthy and serious". And pretty, very very pretty. In fact, they're ALL rather pretty. Maybe they should change the name of the show to The Beautiful People while they're at it...
We're sure Home and Away fans will be sad to see Luke go, but hey, at least we've still got Casey...
