'Normal People' viewers will have to make it their number one priority to tune into tomorrow night's 'RTE Does Comic Relief' for two one-off specials about our newest TV obsession.
Kicking off at 8pm on RTE One Friday evening, RTE's night of comedy is set to feature plenty of star quality in their line-up, as well as the presence of two of the country's most talked-about people in recent months. 'Normal Older People' will see Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones return to their characters of Connell and Marianne for one night only.
Appearing alongside 'Normal People' series director Lenny Abrahamson, Paul and Daisy will be giving their interpretation of what life for the on-again/off-again lovers would look like, 40 years from now.
Speaking to Miriam O'Callaghan on RTÉ Radio 1 recently, Comic Relief co-founder and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' director Richard Curtis explained: "There’s a beautiful piece called 'Normal Older People', which is imagining what would have happened to Marianne and Connell 40 years from now."
The director admits that what they've managed to create is something very special: "I promise you, these are two very special bits. It’s so much better than anything we’ve ever made. I mean I can’t even say all about it because there’s a guest star in it. But it’s really, it’s really beautiful."
