As we reported a few months ago, X-Files is on its way back to TV with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny both revealing they're in advanced talks to reprise their roles as Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.

20th Century Fox Television are said to be in the final stages of negotiations with all involved and a good bit of information is swirling around.

It's understood that the new series will be a sort of mini-series, with various sources claiming it'll be six episodes while others are saying ten.

The miniseries format worked for 24: Live Another Day which became a hit with audiences, so Fox are likely trying to work similar magic here.

This series will be the final look at X-Files and effectively draw a line under the whole thing for everyone involved, so naturally, things are going to get intense.

If the deals are finalised soon - and all sources believe it's only a matter of days - filming is expected to begin as early as June with a view to releasing the series some time in very early 2016.

As mentioned, both Mulder and Scully are onboard as is showrunner Chris Carter. It's not known if former X-Files writer and now Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul showrunner Vince Gilligan will have a hand in proceedings, but we can wonder. Reports suggest that some of the old writing staff will be taken back on, although which ones is not yet known.

Think it's time to dust off that trenchcoat and prep yourselves for falling in love with Scully / Mulder all over again.

In the meantime, here's a supercut of Scully saying "Oh My God" loads of times.
