Mr. Robot really came out of nowhere in its first season and while some would admit that the second season was a little ropey in places, it still made for compelling viewing.
The labyrinthine plot, Rami Malek's incredible performance, just how prescient and timely it all was, Mr. Robot rightfully made a huge sweep at the Emmys and now, at long last, the air date for Season 3 has finally been announced.
Like the previous season, all ten episodes of Season 3 will be directed by Sam Esmail - the series creator - and will kick off in October of this year. As well as this, Boardwalk Empire's Bobby Cannavale has been announced as joining the new season as Irving, described as "a laconic, no-nonsense used car salesman." As well as this, BD Wong's character, Whiterose, has now been upgraded to a series regular - meaning they'll feature more heavily in Season 3.
There's still no word on what the plot of Season 3 will be, but it's been confirmed that the story picks up immediately after Season 2's pretty extraordinary cliffhanger and will further document the disintegration between Rami Malek's Eliot and Christian Slater's titular Mr. Robot.
