Staying in this weekend? Sure you are. Here's our three picks for the week ahead.

Saturday - 21.20

RTE 2 - District 9

Sharlto Copley stars in this satirical sci-fi that isn't a million miles away from Paul Verhoeven's Robocop. Set in Johannesburg, a mid-level executive that's charged with leading a population of alien refugees into a new camp becomes infected with a serum that turns him into one of them. Chased by the corporation that he once worked for, the film goes in some dark places and makes for one of the most compelling sci-fi films of the past twenty years. Highly recommended.

Sunday - 18.50

Channel 4 - Thor

Ex- Home & Away actor Chris Hemsworth and Mr. Taylor Swift Tom Hiddleston star in the first outing for everyone's favourite God of Thunder. Stripped of his mighty hammer and thrown out of Asgard, Thor (Hemsworth) has to learn a lesson or two in humility while in New Mexico. There, he meets Jane Porter (Natalie Portman) and Dr. Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard), two astrophysicists who have unexpectedly found a portal to another dimension and a way for Thor to return home.

Monday - 21.30

TG4 - Yves Saint Laurent

Pierre Niney and Charlotte Le Bon star in this slick and glamourous biopic about the revered French designer and his rise to fame. Together with stunning cinematography and production design and a great soundtrack, Yves Saint Laurent is every bit as beautiful and decadent as you'd expect.
