Sarah Hyland is known to many as the witty and beautiful Hayley Dunphy from 'Modern Family', but many fans of the show probably don't realise the amount of health troubles the actress has had over the years.
In an emotional interview with Self magazine, Sarah opens up about the two kidney transplants she has received and how at times she was so low she comtemplated suicide.
28-year-old Sarah discusses how her body rejected a kidney donated to her by her father when she was 21, and went on to receive another kidney from her younger brother.
Hyland talks about the 16 surgeries she has gone through her whole life, as well as a endometriosis diagnosis, while she also displays her scars.
"I had gone through [my whole life] always being a burden," she says
"When a family member gives you a second chance at life, and it fails, it almost feels like it's your fault. It's not. But it does," she said.
"For a long time, I was contemplating suicide, because I didn't want to fail my little brother like I failed my dad."
Sarah breaks down in the interview as she talks about what she went through and how her family have supported her, but thankfully she is doing well now saying: "I'm thriving. I'm super happy with life."
