Those of you who were afraid you had heard the last of Mary Berry's innuendo filled judging on The Great British Bake Off needn't worry, she may not be joining the show over at its new home on Channel 4, but you can still find her giving her views on BBC One's new show Britain's Best Cook (working title).
The series will be presented by Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman and will be testing the skills of home cooks. Mary said of her new role, "I am never more at home than when I have my judging hat on. This series is going to encourage proper home cooking which I have always championed and I cannot wait to start. Claudia, for me, is the icing on the cake."
While Claudia shared her enthusiasm saying, "I am over the moon to be part of this show. Am slightly obsessed with Mary so will follow her around with my own moussaka for most of the filming. Apologies in advance."
The eight-episode series will see 10 contestants challenged to serve dishes that define modern British home cooking as well as adding their own take to culinary classics.
According to the BBC, the contestants will have to prove they have the "skills and repertoire, technical ability, resourcefulness and creativity" to be crowned Britain's Best Cook.
82-year-old Mary will also be joined by a second judge - but their identity hasn't been revealed yet.
It has also previously been announced that Mary will host another new BBC show called Mary Berry's Secrets From Britain's Great Houses and she will continue her BBC Two series, Mary Berry Everyday.
The BBC is also launching The Big Family Cooking Showdown "soon" on BBC Two, hosted by Zoe Ball and former Bake Off champion Nadiya Hussain.
Who even needs The Great British Bake Off? (It starts in the autumn on Channel 4.)
