Sure Ben Affleck's too busy being Batman to reprise his 2003 role as the red-costumed superhero, and this looks like a far better choice anyway.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel and Netflix have tapped former Boardwalk Empire cast member Charlie Cox to take on the role of Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer who fights crime by night thanks to his super-heightened senses and moral obligations, in a 13-part drama on the streaming service.
If you're wondering why Cox's face is familiar, apart from playing Owen in Boardwalk Empire for two seasons, he was also the lead in the 2007 adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Stardust with Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro, as well as appearing in the first episode of Downton Abbey as the Duke of Crowborough, who was attempting to court Lady Mary for her money while secretly schtupping Thomas.
Cox is the first actor attached to Netflix's first co-production with Marvel after they signed a megadeal that will see them create shows around Marvel characters Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage as well as producing the miniseries The Defenders. All of this follows Marvel's continued onslaught on TV with Agents of SHIELD and the upcoming Captain America spinoff Agent Carter.
We definitely think Cox has the acting chops for the role, and anything that can erase Colin Farrell's performance as Bullseye in the 2007 film from our minds is very much a welcome addition.
