It was with a heavy heart that we reported the death of Simpsons' legend Marcia Wallace just over a week ago, and it's with a tiny tear that we bring you a peek at the touching tribute the show's creators made to the dearly departed star this weekend.
The show's animators crafted a particularly poignant blackboard scene (captured below by Twitter user @ditzkoff) which expressed their sadness at the icon's passing.
Meanwhile, show bosses have come out and confirmed that, despite speculation, Mrs Krabappel was NOT the iconic character whom they had actually intended to kill off next season. "Earlier we had discussed a potential storyline in which a character passed away", said Executive Producer Al Jean. "This was not Marcia's Edna Krabappel. Marcia's passing is unrelated and again, a terrible loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her."
So, it would seem that the door is still wide open for another Simpsons' departure in the next 12 months.
RIP Marcia Wallace.
