Tom Vaughan Lawlor may have just returned to his character of Nidge to film the latest series of Love/Hate, but unsurprisingly, he is not short of an offer or two. The actor has just announced he will be taking his one-man show 'Howie the Rookie' on the road to New York and London once filming for the current series finishes up in June.
The play is written by the director of 'Intermission' and focuses in on the story of Dublin inner city natives Howie and Rookie. It was first produced in 1999 and took the theatrical world by storm, then last year Irish writer and director Mark O' Rowe got a hold of it and re-imagined it for a single actor - Vaughan Lawlor. The actor told the Irish Independent; "It got a great reaction when we staged in Dublin last year and it's a wonderful piece to perform in so I'm really looking forward to doing it again".
Meanwhile, his Love/Hate co-star Caoilfhionn Dunne, who plays Lizzie in the hit show, is also doing well for herself. She has landed the lead role in Brian Friel's 'Father and Sons' in London, which will open in June for a six week run. Lizzie is of course 'yer wan who shot Darten', so we're not too mad on her for that. She was last seen bludgeoning some poor unsuspecting fella in a road rage incident which got her arrested on the spot, so it's pretty uncertain when or if she is returning.
Either way, great to see the rest of the world is getting to see some of the impressive talent this show has produced!
