Now that Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano are the best of pals again it looks like this Charmed reboot may actually get off the ground, because Hollywood just loves resuscitating the careers of nineties stars to make some money on nostalgia, and goddamit it's working because we would watch the shit out of a Charmed reboot.
The show was sort of like a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and starred Doherty, Milano and Holly Marie Combs as three sisters who were also witches in disguise. Doherty, however, was replaced by Rose McGowan after three seasons when the actress reportedly fell out with Milano. As we said though, the pair recently made up:
"I think we're just at ages now that what happens 15 years ago, or however long ago that was, it's irrelevant," said Milano. "I think that what she has gone through, (and) motherhood in my life, I think it just changes people."
Doherty was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and, as of April of this year, she's been in remission.
In Touch magazine have said that both Milano and Doherty are now in talks to bring back the show, which ran from 1998 to 2006, with an insider saying: "They’re in talks for a reboot", adding that they’ve been in touch with co-star Holly Marie Combs about reprising her role as well.
"They’re hoping the show gets a second life on Netflix. They’d love to play moms with teenage witch daughters," says the source.
"Now the show may get a second shot," adds the insider, "just like their friendship."
There's just the certain matter of Doherty's character Prue's death to deal with, but we're sure they can find a way to navigate around that little hiccup with all that witch craft mojo they've got going on.
