In a new interview, 'Friends' star Lisa Kudrow has admitted she struggled with playing Phoebe on the hit TV series.
Lisa has had plenty of credits before and since but she'll probably always be synonymous with Phoebe Buffay. However the actress found it hard to get to grips with the character since "it wasn't really [her]."
She admitted that she found it difficult to get into character, even though she had done similar roles before.
Speaking to comedian Kevin Nealon on his YouTube series Hiking with Kevin, Kudrow explained:
"I had played dumb girls for sure, but it wasn't really me. I feel like, 'Shit, I tricked them'.
"At the audition, I feel I was the only one who could cope with the audition process, and that's how I got it, I think."
Kudrow was particularly doubting herself during season three of the show. However her co-star Matt LeBlanc - good old reliable Joey - boosted her confidence.
"I had to work hard at being Phoebe," she said. "Then third season in, I was struggling so much. And LeBlanc was like, 'What's going on with you?' and I was like, 'I can't, I don't think I have it. I don't know what I'm doing'.
"He said, 'You're her, relax, you got it, you've been doing this f**king character for three years. You're working too hard, that's your problem. You don't need to work as hard, relax.' And he was right."
She also revealed she has never seen the series and that she was offered a role in a superhero movie, but can't remember which one. Typical Phoebe!
