They've had plenty of comings and goings over the past week what with Kylie Minogue, Emma Willis and Marvin Humes joining the team to replace Jessie J, Holly Willoughy and Reggie Yates, and now The Voice UK camp has announced that Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson will take over from our own Danny O'Donoghue.
Wilson says he's delighted to be on board, and hinted that the opportunity to find new talent wasn't the only thing that had drawn him to the role: "Who doesn't want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue?" he quipped. "I spent last winter yelling at The Voice, and both Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am were total superstars. I'm just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan!"
Yes Ricky, we're sure yourself and your BRIT Award/Ivor Novello winning bandmates had nothing better to do with your weekends than watch The Voice...
The BBC sounds pretty excited to have him on board too, with Wilson ticking that err, alternative box that Script frontman Danny had been filling for the past two years. "Ricky is one of the UK music scene's great frontmen", said Mark Linsey, Controller of Entertainment Commissioning. "He knows all about performance and will complement the rest of the coaching line-up perfectly."
Needless to say, we do not predict a riot when the show returns in January 2014.
