When you get the director of one of the most talked-about films this year coupled with HBO and Bad Robot, you know you're on to something big.
THR has confirmed that Jordan Peele has signed on to act as showrunner / executive producer on Lovecraft Country, a horror anthology series that will "(reclaim) genre storytelling from the African-American perspective." The series itself is based on a novel by the same, which was set in '50s America and blended elements of racial terror, the Jim Crow Laws, and mind-warping terror and occultism. Basically, think Get Out set in the '50s and you're somewhere in the right area.
It's early days yet, of course, and there's no word on casting or a release date, but going by the outright success - both critically and commercially - of Get Out, this looks like it's going to be something special.
