On the road currently promoting his next movie A Quiet Place – the actor best-known as Jim Halpert in The Office both directs and stars in it opposite real life wife Emily Blunt (and we’ll have interviews with the actors for the movie in the coming weeks so watch this space!) – John Krasinski has inevitably been asked by more than a few about the TV series that made him a household name.
Unlike brushing off the idea of it, as so many actors from our favourite TV series have done (Friends cast, we’re looking at you), Krasinski thinks a reunion is a great idea.
Not only that but he’s taken inspiration from Ricky Gervais’ UK edition of The Office, which inspired the American version, for what a return of the show could look like.
He said: "So I don’t know how exciting it would be to do a run of the show, 'cause you don’t want to retread old things and have people not be as excited about it as they are now."
What he does think could work well is a Christmas special (as provided the finale for the UK series).
"I think the UK thing that I always have pitched and wanted to do is that Christmas special thing, where we do a Christmas special this year and then two years from now, or three years from now, we do another one," he said. "I love that idea coming back finding out where everybody is. I would totally be down for that."
While the actor is super busy both acting (after A Quiet Place, his TV series Jack Ryan airs) AND directing, he has emphasised he will always make room in his life for The Office, saying "It’s one of those things where I’m sure people don’t believe me when I say I would totally do it, because the truth is I would totally do it."
