As Kimmel prefaces this year's video, the show actually decided not to follow it's annual 'I Told My Kids I Ate Their Halloween Candy' video challenge because, well, kids have suffered enough this year.
But, as it turns out, there are plenty of parents in the US still willing to emotionally traumatise their children for just a glimpse of late-night talk show comedy. As Kimmel tells it, they still received hundreds of videos from viewers doing the same prank as years past, and put together a compilation.
Our favourite has to be the little girl who puts the bucket over her head and screams into the darkness. Wouldn't we all feel that way if somebody told us all our free chocolate and sweets were eaten?
Hell, we're adults now and that urge to put a bucket over our heads and scream is still a powerful urge.
