You may or may not have heard that they're planning to remake Gavin and Stacey across the pond, and call it Friends And Family. Anyway, looks like they're determined to get this one right, because they've only gone and signed Jane Kaczmarek, aka Lois from Malcolm in The Middle, to star in the show,
Jane joins the likes of Parenthood's Jason Ritter and Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel, who'll be playing the US versions of our favourite long distance lovers. She's been snapped up to play the role of Ritter's ma, aka the US equivalent of Gavin's lovely mammy, Pam.
TV Line says she'll be using those overbearing mammy skills she perfected with Frankie Muniz and co, though there's no word on when they'll be filming the pilot. We Bought A Zoo's Dustin Ybarra is also attached to the project.
And don't worry, the gang are in safe hands, because original series co-creators James Corden and Ruth Jones will be executive producers on the US remake. Here's hoping it doesn't suffer the same fate as Skins and The Inbetweeners...
