The cult '00s teenage action series 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' is getting a reboot, with Joss Whedon onboard as executive producer.
The reboot, however, will see Buffy Summers played by a black actress - taking over the role from Sarah Michelle Gellar. The series back in 1992 as a film of the same name with Kristy Swanson in the titular role, before it was adapted into a television series from 1997 where it ran for 144 episodes and spawned a spinoff series in the process.
Variety reports that Monica Owusu-Breen, who worked on the likes of 'Alias', 'Lost', 'Agents of SHIELD' and most recently 'Midnight, Texas', has been set the task of rebooting the series. No television studio or streaming service is attached as of yet, however it's likely that a massive bidding war will kick off once casting is announced and a script is completed.
