It was the role that they say launched his career and now it looks as though Remington Steele (the character made famous by our own Pierce Brosnan in the 1980's) could be set for a TV comeback.

US TV executives seem to be rather obsessed with reboots of late (The Tomorrow People makes its debut on the CW in just a few days) and are now turning their attention to the 80's drama which paired Stephanie Zimbalist's private eye Laura Holt with a mystery man (our Pierce) to whom she gave the titular name.

As per Deadline, the new series will take the story a little further and focus on the exploits of Remington and Laura's daughter, Olivia Holt. Written by Jay Sherick and David Ronn (Zookeeper, Spin City), the script sees the fruit of their loins reopening her parents' detective agency, and presumably engaging in a bit of investigative work herself.

Now, we're not quite sure how well this one will go down if we're honest. Ironside was supposed to come back with a bang but that reboot flopped almost instantly earlier this month, and sure doesn't everyone know that writing about the children of an iconic character isn't always the best idea. Grease 2 anyone?

The project is still in its very early stages (the network hasn't even ordered a pilot yet) but we can't help but wonder if they could twist Pierce's arm and get both him and those luscious locks back?
