Between drugs and Jeremy Clarkson's suspension, Tuesday was a very dramatic day altogether. News came in yesterday evening that the Top Gear presenter had been suspended "following a fracas" with a producer.
The BBC did not give any details of said 'fracas' but the Mirror have reported today that it was in fact Clarkson's Irish producer Oisin Tymon, 36, that was involved in the incident.
Now we do know that the tabloids may get things wrong from time to time but if what they are saying is to be believed, the 'fracas' happened when they were filming in Newcastle whereby Jeremy got annoyed because he didn't get his dinner. Yep.
A source told The Mirror; "They came to the end of filming after a long day and Jeremy discovered that no food had been laid on." Adding that the presenter then just 'snapped' and blamed the assistant producer Oisin for not organising the food.
Some say there was a punch up, some say there wasn't, we don't know what to believe. Either way, this sounds like your classic case of hangry to us.
Clarkson and co. seem to be taking it in their stride anyways with James May tweeting his fellow presenters; "No Top Gear this weekend, apparently. How about 633 Squadron instead?”
To which Richard Hammond responded with; "No, surely, Last of the Summer Wine – no one will notice the difference. Job done.”
While Clarkson then chimed in; “No no no. Where Eagles Dare. Much better."
Clarkson's daughter Em even tweeted: “Oh God, BBC please take him back... He’s started cooking..."
So nobody seems to be taking this too seriously in their camp, question is, how are the BBC dealing with it? They have refused to comment on the future of the show, but we do know that Clarkson was on his final warning with the broadcaster with Clarkson stating last year; "I've been told by the BBC that if I make one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time, I will be sacked. And even the angel Gabriel would struggle to survive with that hanging over his head."
The BBC also do own the rights to Top Gear as of 2012, but do we really want the show to go on without Clarkson? As much as we often despise him?
Meh, we'd live.
Plenty of fans have signed a petition to have Clarkson reinstated, but come on, maybe it is about time they handed the ropes over to some fresh blood. Who would you like to see present Top Gear?
What? Too soon? We need a contingency plan folks!
