We always knew us Irish were a bunch of funny feckers, but our reputation has officially been sealed abroad as one of our own has landed a job writing for South Park. 29-year-old Kilkenny man David O'Reilly has fulfilled a lifelong ambition by landing the gig after three years out in LA making a name for himself.
O'Reilly previously worked on a U2 music video, an episode of the Cartoon Network series ‘Adventure Time’ as well as creating the fictional 'Alien Child' video game that was seen in the Oscar-winning film 'Her'.
David will be joining the show's creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker - he told the Irish Examiner how it all came about; “I was introduced to Matt Stone by a mutual friend; we got along and a month later I was in the writers’ room,” he said. “It’s a huge honour as Matt and Trey are heroes. I’ve been watching the show since I was 12."
When asked about any future ambitions for himself now that he has landed himself such a prestigious gig, he joked; “I don’t have any left. This is it. Downhill from here,” he said.
See? Funny fecker.
