In a move that no one expected, Ireland and Ulster rugby player Tommy Bowe is making the move to TV and joining the presenting team of Joe Lindsay, Mairead Ronan and Vogue Williams in the new run of RTÉ One holiday series Getaways.
Speaking about the new role, Bowe said: "I’m very excited to be part of the Getaways team this year. I was disappointed after my injury in the Six Nations but this gives me an opportunity to explore another avenue while preparing myself for next season. Being a part of a great series like Getaways is a dream come true for me and I’m looking forward to the new challenge."
Over the eight episodes of 'Getaways', Joe, Mairead, Vogue and Tommy will check out activities and attractions that viewers have recommended from the French Riviera to New York and Porto.
Bowe is headed to the island of Ibiza (presumably to have a party in the Mediterranean Sea) in the first of his many trips that are set to feature in the show when it airs in 2018.
We really hope Ryle Nugent is on hand to at least do his intros.
