At one time, Hugh Laurie was one of TV's highest paid actors for his role in House. Now he's getting another chance to star as a TV doctor, in a new medical thriller by the name of, em, Chance.

According to Deadline, Hulu have ordered two seasons (much like Netflix nabbed House of Cards all that time ago), and rumours has it that our very own Lenny Abrahamson will direct the show. The production - written by Kem Nunn, produced by Michael London and has a showrunner in the form Alexandra Cunningham (she also worked on Desperate Housewives) - is being described as a "hot package", with the first of the 20 episodes set to air towards the end of this year.

Based on Nunn's novel, it's described as "a provocative psychological thriller that focuses on Eldon Chance (Laurie), a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption and mental illness."

The report states that: "The script garnered strong interest from major directors, with Abrahamson emerging as the clear choice for the job based on his acclaimed work on awards contender Room, which has three Golden Globe nominations, including for best picture drama."

Production is set to start in the spring, and we're mightily looking forward to it.
