The Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night which serves as a precursor to the main event (the Primetime Emmy Awards) which takes place next week. They generally acknowledge all the behind-the-scenes work that is done on all our favourite shows but they also throw in a few of the acting gongs as well.

One such award was the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, which went to House of Cards favourite Reg E. Cathey who had a much bigger role in season three as chef Freddy. (We need to experience some version of those ribs of his some day).

The night also saw Game of Thrones clear up, taking eight awards for technical achievement including Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series,

Other winners on the night included Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program which went to former Glee actress Jane Lynch for 'Hollywood Game Night'.

While Joan Cusack also took home an award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in as Sheila Jackson in Shameless.

Even Taylor Swift managed to bag one for Original Interactive Program for her 'AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience'.

Below are some of the other big winners on the night while the Primetime Emmy Awards takes place on September 20th. (You can catch the nominations here).
