If you're a big fan of Showtime's Homeland and are eagerly anticipating the Season 3 opener then we suggest you stay off the internet (minus entertainment.ie of course) for the next few days as the first episode has reportedly been leaked online.
As per Metro, season 3 episode 1 popped up on a whole host of torrent sites this week, and TorrentFreak says that over 100,000 BitTorrent users had accessed it within a couple of hours. It's hardly a phenomonen - plenty of shows are leaked online - but it is rather unusual for an episode to leak so early.
Fans who don't want to know what happens just yet make take consolation from the fact that the leaked episode wasn't actually finished yet. It's missing the opening credits and a few visual effects as it stands, so who knows what might be changed by the time it actually goes to air.
We're guessing that the post-production studio which had been given the unfinished episode will be put in the spotlight when it comes to locating the origin of the leak, but Showtime has yet to comment on the incident.
That said, they could be utterly delighted with the latest development. Sure aren't show execs half-celebrating piracy these days? Game of Thrones got plenty of publicity for having the most downloaded episode of all time when Season 3 hit our screens earlier this year. Jus' sayin.
Homeland legally returns to our TV screens later this year.
