If you grew up in the '90s, there's a good chance you know this entire sequence off by heart.
The opening credits to 'Batman: The Animated Series' set the mood so perfectly for what was to come, but now looking back some 26 years later (yes, it's really been that long), what's fascinating is just how dark and adult it was for what was ostensibly a children's cartoon.
The explosion at the start, the criminals whipping out guns and ready to kill Batman, the music, the long shadows and the thunder - it was all so dramatic and gothic, unlike anything before it or since.
The entire series will be available on Blu-Ray from October 30th and has been fully remastered and includes the feature-length episodes 'Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm' and 'Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero'. Here's the credits, just to remind you how good it was.
