The 2016 Golden Globe nominations were announced today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Los Angeles, and to say the nominations were all over the place is an understatement.

The biggest 'HUH?' is Lady Gaga's nomination for 'American Horror Story: Hotel', with shows on streaming platforms and cable networks also getting plenty of nods that are usually reserved for traditional networks. Netflix leads the way with eight overall nominations, HBO closely follows with seven and Amazon on five nominations.

The biggest celebration for our own little island comes for Caitriona Balfe in 'Outlander', and the Best TV Series, Drama nomination for 'Game of Thrones', which employs plenty of our own on both sides of the border.

The Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 10, 2016, with Ricky Gervais once again taking up the hosting reins. We'd prefer Tina Fey and Amy Poehler again but what can you do.
