Hector Ó hEochagáin joined Brendan O'Connor on The Saturday Night Show last weekend for the chats, and found himself breaking a cardinal Irish sin by dissing our Miriam O'Callaghan. Only Mario Rosenstock can get away with that. Genuinely.
The former 2FM radio presenter said, "You don't leap around the place if you're on after the nine o'clock news on RTE One. You're either bloody Miriam O'Callaghan talking shite or another one trying to imitate Miriam O'Callaghan."
However, Hector clarified his comments today on The Anton Savage Show on Today FM describing it as 'a moment of madness'.
"I don't know what happened me," he said, "There was a little man on my shoulder. There was a little man in my head!
"There's been a bit of a mountain out of a molehill about the comments I made. But I want to officially apologise to Miriam O'Callaghan for saying she talks shite.
"She far from talks shite. A lot of people tune in to Miriam and she's a great broadcaster.
"With all the hullaballoo of me just in a spontaneous moment of madness on live television where I said something wrong and people are going, 'Oh my God you can't say that!' so when I stopped at a petrol station, I knew then; 'What did you say? Miriam doesn't like you!'
"I want to officially apologise to Miriam because I met her on a few occasions and she's a good laugh and she doesn't talk shite."
He added, "I regret what I said. It was a moment of mad TV. It was live TV, you say something wrong, so be it. But I apologise to Miriam."
Okay, okay we get it, you're sorry Hector. Just don't do it again.
