Love it or loathe it, it's all anyone's talking about (for both good and bad reasons) and thanks to the vocal minority who are railing against True Detective's second season, HBO president of programming Michael Lombardo has come out to defend the anthology series' sophomore year.
Lombardo was at the Television Critics Association yesterday and according to Deadline was repeatedly asked about the current season of the show and he "stressed that he was very pleased with the new installment".
"I think you need to watch the entirety of it," he told the gathered press. “I think the season’s ending is as satisfying as any series we’ve done.”He also stated that the network weren't stepping in and giving Pizzolatto notes about how to proceed with the show, saying that Pizzolatto was "one of the best writers working in film or television who takes big swings."
As for a season three? "If he wants to do another season, I said the door is open, we’d like to do another season of it." Lombardo said.
We'll just have to wait and see if what he says about the ending of this season is true first before we think about diving into the world of True Detective again.
