To say that we're excited about this reunion special is an understatement; we're positively ballooning with anticipation, looking more and more like Aunt Marge as each day passes.
HBO Max has released the first teaser for their upcoming 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts' special. Hitting our screens on New Year's Day, it will make for the perfect post-Christmas viewing extravaganza (we hope).
Oh HBO (and Sky/NOW), you do like to treat us. Similar to 2021's 'Friends: The Reunion' from earlier this year, the TV network will be gifting us with a special treat, 20 years on from the very first film release in the 'Harry Potter' franchise.
'Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone' (or "Sorcerer's" if you're from the US) hit cinemas on November 16, 2001, which shot the fantasy series into many fans' heart's around the world. The final eighth entry of the franchise was released 10 years ago in 2011, but of course, the Wizarding World is still trundling onwards with the 'Fantastic Beasts' prequel series.
Most of the familiar faces from all eight entries in the 'Harry Potter' series will be making an appearance in this anniversary special, including the main trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
Also included in the line-up are Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Tom Felton, James and Oliver Phelps, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Alfred Enoch and many more.
Here's the teaser trailer, which features a number of the 'Potter' alums, including Robbie Coltrane, Matthew Lewis, Mark Williams and Helena Bonham Carter.
The official synopsis for the 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary' special is as follows:
The retrospective special 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts' will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time.
'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts' will air on New Year’s Day exclusively on Sky and streaming service NOW in Ireland and the UK.
Sky Cinema and NOW Cinema have all ten of the films from the franchise available to view this December. The 'Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses' quiz show, hosted by Helen Mirren, can be streamed from December 29.
