You'll never beat the Irish (don't mention yesterday, we still can't talk) so it's no surprise to hear that one of our own actresses is at the very centre of Matt Smith's final Doctor Who episode.
The rather talented Orla Brady (Servants, Mistresses, Shark, Fringe) skips back to TV screens on our side of the pond this Christmas to play what Digital Spy describes as a pretty major role opposite Smith. The website says Brady's character is someone from the Doctor's past, with the plot of the festive episode pretty much revolving around her.
We're rather curious to see where the Christmas Special takes us, given the fact that The Day of The Doctor (which aired over the weekend to more than 10 million viewers) had some pretty major revelations for Who fans. We won't spoil 'em for you but we will say we're still scratching our heads and wishing we were better at maths.
Insiders suspect that Smith's last huzzah will feature Who villains The Cybermen, and with Jenna Louise Coleman describing his exit as 'brutal' we're guessing we'll be needing the tissues come Christmas time.
Here's hoping our Orla ain't the one who pushes us over the edge. On second thoughts, that might not be such a bad thing either, eh?
