We might not have the usual Grafton Streek busk this year - but here's the next best thing.
Following this weekend's 'Late Late Show' special in aid of Simon Community where the likes of Bono and The Edge, Glen Hansard, Hozier, Imelda May, and many more featured, there's a very special documentary called 'The Busk - A Decade on Grafton Street' airing on RTÉ One in honour of the decade-long tradition.
This year's annual Grafton Street busk won't be happening. The gathering of people for the busk encapsulates the Irish Christmas spirit every year, as we donate money to those who are most in need. But that doesn't mean that we can't all enjoy some incredible music performances from the comfort of our own houses this Christmas.
Kicking off on RTÉ One tomorrow night is a terrific new music documentary which will feature Glen Hansard, Dermot Kennedy, Irish Women in Harmony, Lisa Hannigan, David Keenan and Aoife Power, as they look back on the iconic Grafton Street busk.
With new, special live performances from each performer, they will also take a look back at some of the most memorable moments from the busk over the past ten years. Expect it to be an emotional feature to remind you of the true meaning behind Christmas.
Here's Bono, Glen Hansard, Lisa Hannigan, Sinéad O'Connor, Liam Ó Maonlaí as they busk on a packed Grafton Street in 2013. Hopefully we'll see the likes of this once again during Christmas 2021.
'The Busk - A Decade on Grafton Street' will air on RTÉ One at 10.10 pm on Tuesday, December 22.
