There was a time we were glued to New Girl and the will they/won't they friendship of Jess and Nick, and while it's still capable of producing some quality episodes, there were worries amongst fans that it was coming to the end of the road.

Have no fear though! Fox have just announced they are renewing Zooey Deschanel's comedy for a fifth season.

Fox Broadcasting Company entertainment president David Madden said; "Four seasons in, New Girl continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television. The writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn’t be more proud of Liz Meriwether, BrettBaer, Dave Finkel and the entire New Girl team. We absolutely love this show and we’re so excited to bring it back for season five."

We did hear a while ago however that actor Damon Wayans Jr who plays Coach in the show, would be finishing up at the end of this current season, but looks like the rest of the gang are all set to return.

The show will hit its landmark 100th episode next season and it also plans to enter syndication on TBS and MTV.

Meanwhile, Fox has also renewed Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Empire, Gotham and Sleepy Hollow for another season.
