One of Gogglebox's most notable participants, Leon Bernicoff, has passed away at the age of 83.
A retired teacher, Leon - together with his wife, June - were one of the show's first participants. He was known for his acerbic wit and distaste for certain figures in British society, particularly Nigel Farage who he described - on camera - as "a dickhead."
In a brief statement, Channel 4 and Studio Lambert confirmed the news, stating that "Leon’s unique personality and sharp wit endeared him to fans of the show, as he contributed fully to Gogglebox’s reputation as a programme full of warm humour and unvarnished opinion."
"To those of us that knew him personally, Leon was a man of unwavering principles who exerted a distinct paternal presence both on and off screen. He will be dearly missed by the entire Gogglebox family; cast and crew.”
He is survived by his wife, June, two daughters and grandchildren.
