'Cause that's what you want to ease you into another day of kids' TV; the prospect of Geri Halliwell's voice foghorning away from the corner of your living room. And you thought Barney was the devil. It's not all bad news, however; Halliwell will be joined by actual thespian sorts Brenda Blethyn and Brian Blessed.
The unlikely trio will lend their voices to Disney's new preschool series Henry Hugglemonster. Geri - who is being described as a "singer, designer and author" in the press release, will voice Isabella Roarsome, a spirited and popular monster popstar who is never seen without her gold tutu and matching bling.
Henry Hugglemonster is the latest series to be developed by Disney’s London production hub and produced by twice Oscar-nominated animation studio, Brown Bag Films here in Dublin. The Irish production house is also behind Disney Junior’s recent hit, Doc McStuffins. In a further Irish connection, the 8 x 11 minute series (and two 30-minute seasonal specials) is developed from a series of books created by Ireland’s Children’s Laureate Niamh Sharkey called I’m a Happy Hugglewug and published by Walker Books.
Speaking of getting a job, Halliwell commented: "Being involved in Henry Hugglemonster has been such a joy. The show has a truly positive message, teaching kids to be themselves and reminding them of the importance of family values. What’s more, it’s been so lovely to share this experience with my own daughter, who helped me learn the songs for my role as Isabella!" Our thoughts are with you, Bluebell.
The show is set to premiere on Disney Junior UK on February 8th 2013 at 5.50pm, before rolling out to audiences in more than 150 countries worldwide.
