We're big fans of both Sherlock and Game of Thrones here in the office so, as you can imagine, we were rather excited to find out that we're getting a little bit of crossover in the not too distant future.

No, Mr Holmes will not be heading off to the 7 Kingdoms to find the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne, but Sherlock co-creator and star Mark Gatiss will be making an appearance in Season 4. For those of you feeling a wee bit confused, that would be the man who plays Mycroft Holmes.

As per Entertainment Weekly, his role is being kept hush hush, but there is speculation that he'll pop up on the Game of Thrones Comic Con panel this Friday. He's already heading to San Diego to promote Sherlock Season 3, so it wouldn't exactly be too far out of his way. Then again, we're sure he'll have more than enough excitement on his hands, what with fans wondering how on earth the super sleuth survived that Reichenbach Fall.

Production on Game of Thrones Season 4 has already started in Northern Ireland, so it won't be long before winter is coming. That said, give us another few weeks of this Irish summer first, eh?
